An Old Soul In This Modern World

Have you ever asked yourself this question: “Was I supposed to be born in this era?” Do you sometimes find it hard to easily connect with people that have higher social standards than you in today’s world? Do you question why certain things are acceptable in this modern world when you know truly what’s happening is wrong? Do you question the meaning of life and our existence all together?

You might just be an old soul!

Belief in a higher power

Does God exist ?

We believe there is a higher power, we believe in a God and believe that there are consequences to our every action. We don’t take things for granted and we seem to be a little wise for our age.

Personally, it has been a little difficult for me to make friends that do not have the same thoughts as I do. I’ve been asked many questions on why I follow certain older values living my life as a young adult. It seems to be a little incomprehensible for them. There is no judgement here, to each their own; ofcourse! I follow my intuition and like to stick to them. We have a good reason and intuition towards our every action and dont care to just follow the crowd. I get made fun of and laughed at for standing up for my views because maybe they think I lack something and I don’t have the same experiences that they do ?

Not only do old souls feel deeply connected to God but they also feel that with nature, animals and the people in our lives, and even strangers. We feel connected to just about anything and everything from within our souls. We probably have that connection to everyone, but maybe it doesn’t show up in this lifetime.

Need for Solitude

Do you enjoy solitude ?

We need some time to disconnect and recharge our souls. We disconnect and take some time alone by praying, being grateful for what we have and taking the time to appreciate our lives. Some of us like to journal or take a solo trip somewhere or meditate or even just spend some time alone in nature. We find the need to do this so we can connect within ourselves. This helps us to stay grounded.

We can be our own biggest critics in certain situations and want to assess our own standings in some of these morals during our solitude.

  • Integrity
  • Have a kind heart
  • Be respectful
  • Ahimsa
  • Compassion

We never fail to appreciate or recognize these in others.

Party Culture and being the GOAT.

What are your thoughts on altered states of consciousness?

Personally, I never really enjoyed alcohol; it was not something I enjoyed even when forced. I was never one to party, and the idea of me having to meet a random person in a club was not something that appealed to me. Maybe it is because I grew up a certain way, but I truly never was amused by it.

We believe in meaningful connections and relationships. We considered relationships and marriages to have the same value and respect it did centuries ago. Not that there wasn’t any infidelity or divorces in those days, but certainly not as much as today.

Somewhere between the lines we lost the meaning of having a loving household and a healthy family for our children, but this is a whole other topic.

We don’t believe in having a drink in order for us to connect with anyone, why is it that we need to be in an altered state of consciousness to open up?

Have you ever thought about this? Let’s say in a party of 10 people (given covid restrictions… hahaha!). Someone comes up with a crazy idea and it’s not morally correct. Mostly everyone in the party ends up cheering for them or doing it anyway, just to fit in. To be socially accepted in this world we seem to compromise our standards just to be the GOAT (greatest of all time) or being the cool guy in the party.

Even to fit in with your colleagues or an office dinner party, sometimes they expect you to have a drink or two to be able to connect with them or again to fit in.

Mind of Free Unconditional love

Do you feel things too deeply?

As an old soul we feel things very deeply whether it be a simple interaction with a random person you meet at the grocery store or someone you know for years. You connect with that person on a deeper level, this may as well be a one sided thing and might make the other person feel a bit weird or uncomfortable. It does not take us a lot of testing the waters or finding the other person’s intentions for us to be able to love or trust them. Maybe it’s because there are no ill intentions we hold for them and we assume the same from them.

If we hear good news from a friend, we are genuinely happy for them from our hearts and if you hear sad news then you truly start thinking about that person’s well-being, their current emotional state and that person’s future. You’d do anything to make them feel better.

We care! Genuinely care and want to be there for this person. We are a little too empathetic, maybe a little too much for our own good.

We crave that deeper connection with just about anyone we meet and small talk does not amuze us in any way.

We are able to love freely and unconditionally easily without holding ourselves back.

Being Carefree

Are you free spirited?

We enjoy the little things this life has to offer. Just staring at a rose that bloomed in our garden brings us so much joy. We aren’t too shy to sing out loud while taking a walk or dance to the rain if we feel like it. Little things make us happy.

There’s nothing free spirits value more than authenticity. They want to be themselves through and through, and they appreciate that same energy from the people in their lives and we are absolutely carefree about what others think.

We find peace in truly listening to our inner voice and being true to it, we follow it even if it might not be the norm. We aren’t afraid to be the weird one.

Conclusion

To my dear old souls; living in this modern world might just be a little too difficult for you now, because not everyone sees the world as we do. They don’t experience the love, joy and wisdom we experience without any external stimuli. In a way we are truly blessed to be the way we are because we feel that love from within.

Stay strong and don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself and your beliefs. We already know it will all be worth it in the end.
